The United States Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado purchased one of these units in 2004 to help cool their Thermal Testing Laboratory.

Before permanently installing this air conditioner in the building, it was extensively tested using NREL’s world class test equipment. The unit performed so well that it was judged ‘disruptive technology’.
