After nearly a year of debates and nine previous attempts, On Friday October 3rd 2008 Congress finally approved a bill that not only extends the Federal 30% tax credit for solar but also removes the $2,000.00 cap that existed on the previous residential tax credit. The new Federal tax credit offers an incredible 30% with no cap for residential and commercial installations !

Now that the new Federal Tax Credit has been approved, homeowners and businesses all over the U.S. are rushing to submit their rebate applications. For instance, in California, SCE's current $2,200.00 per kilowatt cash rebate and PG&E's current $1,900.00 per kilowatt cash rebate is expected to expire at any time. Florida's $4,000.00 per kilowatt cash rebate has already been depleted.

12/11/08 We've been warning everyone about
this for several weeks. If you're a PG&E
customer then it appears that you're now too
late to apply for the higher $1,900.00 per
kilowatt rebate amount.
Unfortunately there are now 4.53 megawatts
worth of rebate applications under review
and only 2.56 megawatts worth of rebate
funds left at the higher $1,900.00 per
kilowatt rebate amount.
Edison
customers, we
cannot stress this enough. Whether you
purchase your system from us or from some
other dealer, you've got to hurry and submit
your application. There are only 7.2
megawatts worth of rebates left before the
higher $2,200.00 per kilowatt rebate amount
expires.
Don't make the same mistake that so many
others have made. The Federal tax credit
will be here for the next eight years and as
long as you bring your system into service
on or after January 1st 2009 then you'll
qualify for the tax credit. Rebates however
are limited and are based a first come first
served basis so it is imperative that you
submit your rebate application as soon as
possible. Waiting even a single day to
submit your rebate application can result in
a reduced rebate or even the entire loss of
your state's current rebate.
