THE TRACE C-40 SHOWN HERE WITH OPTIONAL METERS

C40 Specifications
The C40 brings microprocessor control to solar, wind and hydro-electric systems at an affordable price!

Standard Features

Silent, solid state microprocessor control - increases system performance and maximizes battery life.
Field adjustable setpoints with removable knobs reduces tampering by unqualified personnel. Both calibrated scales and test-points are provided to allow precise adjustment and setting verification.
Electronically protected for short-circuit, overload, over temperature and reverse polarity conditions.
"Real world" rating of 40 amps @ 90°F/35°C (comparable to a 60 amp rating of relay type controllers - 40 amp rating includes NEC required de-rating).
12V, 24V or 48 VDC battery voltage - manually selected during installation (prevents problems that can be caused by automatic voltage selection systems used on other photovoltaic charge controllers).
Auto-resetting electronic over current protection - eliminates the nuisance of tripped breakers or blown fuses.
Two stage lightning and surge suppression through both active and passive protection components.

Note: The C40 operates only in one mode at a time - To provide both PV charge control and DC load control functions, two C40's must be used.
Photovoltaic Charge Controller Mode

Silent, solid state, series Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) charge control with 3-stages (bulk, absorb, float).
Field adjustable BULK and FLOAT set-points allow use with a wide variety of battery types.
Manually selectable "Nicad" mode increases set-point range for charging alkaline type batteries.
Designed for up to 50 amps of nameplate short-circuit current (electronic protection trips at 65 amps).
Equalize mode has manual or automatic activation every 30 days (can be defeated for use with sealed batteries).
Optional plug-in/extendible/replaceable remote battery temperature sensor - ideal for sealed batteries.
DC Load Controller Mode

Ajustable low voltage disconnect setting with time delay.
Automatic reconnection of DC loads when voltage increases to the adjustable low voltage reconnect setting.
Diversion Controller Mode.

Automatically diverts excess power to a "dummy" load such as a water or space heater to regulate hydroelectric, wind generators or PV - Wind "hybrid" systems.
Provides 3 stage control of the battery charging process.
Optional LCD Digital Display

LCD display with back-lighting continuously displays battery voltage DC amperage, cumulative amp hours and a separately resetable "trip" amp hour measurement.
Can be mounted to the front of the C40 or located remotely using phone-type cable.
